La Peste; 2021
I sound designed this 23 minute video work for Lynn Lu, commisioned for Days – and counting season two.
In her words:
“La Peste is a performance lecture juxtaposing narrated verbatim text excerpts from Albert Camus’ novel – chosen for its sparse and haunting prose – with contemporary and historical images of life in times of plague.”
Music was a mixture of heavier, ‘bell like’ drones, and lighter airier sections featuring treated snare drums. This was an attempt to help bring out the light and shade in Camus’ rather darkness heavy source text.
